The Rain
Close your eyes,
take a deep breath
smell the earth
the rain upon the air
feel it’s dampness
gather upon your skin
listen to it’s sound
so soft at first
gaining strength
to drum loudly in your
ears.
stick out your tongue
catching a drop,one
then two …
slowly open your
eyes , seeing it’s
light reflecting,
drops bouncing in puddles
Now hold out your arms
tipping your face upwards
and spin with the
delight of a child
laughter bubbling up
lashes weighted down
with it’s heaviness,
closing your eyes once again .
Stand still if you can
breath deeply
remember a cold winter rain
walking in to the house
walking into love
a love given freely
willingly,
For that rain had started
with a heavy heart
and tears that had stung
and a body cold, shivering
closing in upon it’s self
walking on to a bus
fate.
Close your eyes
remember ….
